Look around. It’s much easier to find the “puppy farm” or “backyard breeder” who knows and cares little about the welfare of the breed, than it is to find a reputable breeder. Have patience and never buy on impulse …. ALL puppies are cute.
Careful selection now will save heartache and money later. Poor quality puppies are produced by people who breed their pets just to have a litter, or by profit seekers who give little thought to quality, looks or temperament in the puppies they produce. Many of these indiscriminately bred puppies have health problems, poor temperaments, and or breed disqualifications. The fact is a fully registered qualified pedigree will have the records of the dogs who appear in your pedigree, and you can look right back to see all their Ancestory. Always keep in mind, you are choosing a companion for the next 10 to 15 years sometimes longer.

Although the showing of the dogs is not everyone's "cup of tea" the purpose of conformation shows (also known as dog shows) is to evaluate breeding lines. Judges evaluate quality winners based on ability to contribute and improve the next generation of dogs. We aim for true breed type and soundness in both conformation and mind. A lot of money is generated by responsible breeders such as ourselves, who take the extra time and put back in to our ANKC & State's Dogs SA. Don't be fooled if you ever hear statements such as "we dont need to show our dogs" or "Doesn't mean because they are winning they are better" As mentioned previously, We have some valuable lines which keep our integrity going for future Cresties and certainly want to remain on track keeping up the quality we have established.
In my opinion I can say here in Australia there are many long time breeders doing the "right thing" but as in everything, there is always those few who actually dont do the "right thing" just breeding to sell.
As we breed litters (which is not often) we are looking at expanding our show team, and or have special people waiting for a new addition to their family and are already "owned" by a Crested from us. We advise you show your interest in any future litter as soon as possible. We have a process to find the best homes for our little ones. As much as we would love to keep all of our puppies, we do our absolute best to find the best of homes with a family who will love them just as much as we do.
Our puppies are properly wormed and cared for, well handled, receive loads of socialisation, are thoroughly vet checked, Health Certified, vaccinated, microchipped and registered with Dogs SA (ANKC) and pedigree.
If you are interested in a pup, please do the following:
*Send me an email and tell a bit about yourself, location and the sort of life you could offer a pup, and what sort of physical and temperamental preferences you have.
*Please don't just email asking "how much?" this is not a good introduction in my opinion
Due to current turmoil surrounding puppy buying at the moment we have implemented extra screening precautions, and unfortunately, higher prices due to unethical practices seen to be happening this year.
We also provide:Health care information & advice
- along with support and friendship
- Whatever your objective, YOU, as the dog owner, will be responsible for the care and training that will enable your Crested to fulfill its potential.
RESPONSIBLE BREEDING
(extract from ANKC Policies)
The Australian National Kennel Council and its Member Bodies believe that breeding programs should only be undertaken responsibly and for the purpose of improving the breed. Due consideration must be given to recognised hereditary problems in any breeding program. Any resulting surplus stock should be placed only in homes where the owners are committed to responsible dog ownership.
We are opposed to the production of dogs by those people who breed without regard for the quality of the animals that they produce and without accepting responsibility for placing the dogs only in homes where the owners understand, and are prepared to undertake a commitment to, responsible ownership.
We strive to uphold high principals of breeding as summarised below in the extract from the ANKC website, take every step to ensure that show, breeding or pet families receive quality, true to type, healthy puppies from us and that we act as responsible and trustworthy breeders.
